Internet Marketing is Dead!
So says the many message board posts that populate the popular webmaster forums and news sites. I am here to tell you that Internet Marketing is far from dead, it has just evolved. I’m sure the early days of Google Adsense were much easier to turn a profit, and I’m sure the variety of methods used back then is now classified “black hat” by today’s internet standards.
Just like in any form of business you need to be able to survive the changes of the market place. Tomorrow the whole landscape of how we do business could change. It could change drastically or it could just be minor, but the bottom line is that tomorrow is going to bring change. If you cannot learn to persevere you are going to fail. There are no excuses in the world that could save you from that.
To be able to adapt, literally within days is what separates some of the most successful people in this business from the dreamers. Because of these changes, that can happen at any time mind you, it is important to build your online business on solid ground and NOT sand. This is yet another reason I turned to large content sites, ones that grow naturally and over time, as the backbone of my online business practices.
I have been very resistant while those who spend days and days building thin MFA sites crash and burn with every new Google algorithm change. Live by the sword and I assure you that you will eventually die from it. What is easy now may cost you hundreds of dollars in the future, and to me that is NOT smart business sense.
Naturally you dream of having a part time (or even full time) income to help you pay bills or better enjoy your life. If you look at this like a hobby it’s going to be just that, a hobby. But once you start taking a more serious approach you will realize that there is more to internet marketing then setting up a WordPress blog. Building an online business is going to take time, effort, and eventually a little bit of money.
The chance of you being successful within your first month is totally dependent on your personality, and just because something doesn’t work within the first week does NOT mean that it’s “dead.” Even though I dislike it immensely there I no reason to think MFA sites are quite dead yet in today’s internet marketing world. There will always be someone to take what has come before them and apply new thinking—changing it just enough so that it continues to thrive.
That brings us back to the evolution I previously mentioned—the places we have been and the places we are going are nearly irrelevant because by the time tomorrow becomes today, there is already a new horizon in sight. By building your online business on solid ground, instead of jumping on the latest and greatest band wagons will ensure that you survive to see tomorrow thrive. If not you run the risk of becoming one of the people on the message boards screaming that “internet marketing is a dead sport!”
